Fear God!! Keep away for Sin!!

Moses said to the people, "Do not be afraid. God has come to test you, so that the fear of God will be with you to keep you from sinning."
                                        Exodus 20:20

God tests us many times so that the fear of God will be in us, with us so that we will keep away form sin.
Isn't that wonderful. He is a caring God. He wants us to be kept away from sin. So He makes sure that He puts you through some tests now and then when He feels that the fear of God in you has decreased.

He doesn't want to see you suffer or get hurt. He doesn't test you for that. His mercy will be with us and His Grace will uphold us when we are tested. We will not be thrown into sin when God tests us but will be kept away from sinning because the fear of God will be made to increase in us.

People of Israel were tested many a times by God himself. He loved His people so much. He just wanted them to praise Him, adore Him and accept Him as their God. Instead we read that they were continually murmuring and testing Him for meager things of this world like food and water. God had eternal things in mind for His people but they could not see anything beyond food and water.

How are we today? Are we like those Israelites? Are our needs and worry about what we eat and what we drink? Are we refusing to see what our Heavenly Father has kept for us? So when we are tested let us examine ourselves. Has the fear of God decreased in our lives? Are we doing something that God would not approve?

Fear God!! Keep away for Sin!!

Laugh it off!!

A young woman confessed to her priest that she was guilty of the sin of pride: “I look in the mirror and think of myself as beautiful.” The priest said, "That's not a sin, that's a mistake."

Christian Doctor: “Your recovery was a miracle!” Christian Patient: “Thank God! Now I don't have to pay you.”

Four priest are very good friends. They were enjoying a meal together and these are their conversation:
Priest #1
- We have been very good friends for many years. I feel bad for keeping a secret from you all. I wish to confess. I am an alcoholic. I know its bad but I can't help it. I feel better after confessing it.
Priest #2
- Since you started it, I might as well confess my sin. I am addicted to gambling. I am a regular at the casino. I don't like it but I can't stop. Maybe after this I will be able to stop my addiction.
Priest #3
- Its ok. Your sins are not that serious. I am ashamed. I am having an affair with one of my church member whom is married!
All the others try to comfort Priest #3.
Priest #1
- We have made our confession. What is your sin (referring to Priest #4)
Priest #4
- We don't have to go on. Let just stop here.
Priest #2
- Come on. All of us have made our confession. What can be worse than alcoholic, gambling and adultery.
Priest #4
- You wouldn't want to know.
After much persuasion....
Priest #4
- I like to gossip. I always gossip whatever I heard to everyone.

Rest in God!!

Truly my soul finds rest in God;  my salvation comes from him.

                                     Psalms 62:1

Rest!! How much a man yearns to be at rest! It is what they strive in their whole lifetime. Man is in search for the inner peace and rest all his lifetime. Little does he realize that all his endeavors and efforts are just a waste of time. He can find rest and peace only in God.

Resting in God is a beautiful thing. It shows the end of all our seeking, pursuits. It shows our complete trust in Him. To rest means also to linger upon. So resting in God can be said as lingering upon God. We get the peace and inner rest when we think about God, meditate on His words and keep praising Him.

King James version says, 'Truly my soul waiteth upon God: from him cometh my salvation.'

Waiting upon God is another wonderful dimension to rest. It is like waiting for God to do something in our lives. Have you noticed when a child asks his/her parent for something and they don't respond? They keep circling them and constantly looking up at their face waiting for them to answer them. It is like that with us. Waiting on God, looking unto Him, seeking His face for an answer.

He wants us to be like that child seeking Him at all times. From Him comes the salvation, the deliverance, the answer to all our turmoils. He will save from any and every situation. So fear not oh my soul!! Jesus is my Savior!!

Amen!! Hallelujah!!

Red sea miracle!!

It was a miracle of the ages, the parting of the Red Sea for the Israelites. Now modern science is claiming a feat that if true is almost as miraculous – figuring out how Moses may have done it and where.
Scientists and others have tried for decades to recreate the mystery of the Israelites' escape from the advancing cavalry of the Pharaohs. Fifty years ago Cecil B De Mille deployed his own special effects wizardry to create a cinematic version in the Ten Commandments.

Now researchers at the National Centre for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) and the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU) claim to have used computer modelling to reconstruct the various wind and wave combinations that could have produced the dry land bridge described in Exodus.
Just forget about the Red Sea. Their conclusion relocates the scene of the Israelites escape to the Nile delta.
The researchers determined that a strong east wind, blowing overnight, could have driven back the waters on a coastal lagoon in northern Egypt long enough for the Israelites to walk across the exposed mud flats before the waters rushed back in, engulfing the Pharaoh's cavalry.

"The simulations match fairly closely with the account in Exodus," Carl Drews, the study's lead author, said in a statement. "The parting of the waters can be understood through fluid dynamics. The wind moves the water in a way that's in accordance with physical laws, creating a safe passage with water on two sides and then abruptly allowing the water to rush back in."

Drews, who spent years studying the story of the crossing, relied on research by earlier scholars on the ancient geography of the area to reconstruct the likely locations and depths of various Nile delta waterways.
He used computer simulations to try to re-create the conditions that might have swept away the waters to expose dry land.

He ruled out the Red Sea as a location because it runs from north to south which does not readily fit the description in Exodus of an east wind sweeping the waters to one side.
He eventually concluded that steady 63mph winds from the east over a digitally reconstructed lake along the Mediterranean near today's Port Said could have swept the waters back to the western shores exposing wide mud flats and creating a land bridge that would remain high and dry for four hours.

Other researchers have tried to reconstruct one of the most mysterious events described in the Bible.
Earlier studies have speculated that a tsunami could have caused the rapid retreat and advance of the Red Sea. But that does not fit with the account in the Bible of a gradual parting of the seas overnight under a strong east wind.

Other theories include a wind setdown with powerful winds lowering water levels in one area.
A Russian study suggested that hurricane strength winds from the northwest could have exposed a small reef near the modern-day Suez canal which would have given the Israelites their crossing.

But the Israelites would have been blown away by the gale force winds, Drews noted. And the book of Exodus mentioned an east wind.
"If you are going to match the biblical account, you need the wind from the east," Drews told Discovery News.

Only our God can make it happen!! Science cannot replicate it!!

Praise the Lord!! Amen!! Hallelujah!!

Do not worry!!

“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?”  (Matthew 6:25)

We spend our lives worrying about what we’ll eat and Jesus takes bread saying “I’m the bread of life, broken to feed worriers like you.” We spend our lives worrying about what we’ll drink and Jesus takes a cup saying “This is my blood poured out for anxious souls like you.”We spend our lives worrying about what we’ll wear and on the cross Jesus is stripped, so that we can be clothed in His righteousness.

Jesus tells us life is far more important than material things. So often our worries are about relatively unimportant and trivial matters, such as food, drink, clothing, houses and cars.

Jesus says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:26)

Worry is actually a slander on God's character. Worry suggests that God is more interested in his pets than in his children. Birds are kept alive by food provided by nature, such as worms and insects. They have to spend a lot of time hunting and searching for the food, but it is there to be found. Jesus encourages us to look at them and to think about these facts. Worry misses the point of life because it is illogical.

The point of life is to have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. Worry misses the point of life.

Jesus calls us to a higher, nobler ambition - to seek his kingdom. We are to seek his rule and reign in our lives, in our marriages, in our home, in our family and in our lifestyle. We are also to seek it in the lives of others - our friends, relations, neighbors, work colleagues and in the community.

We are to seek God's kingdom in God’s way. With God’s 'righteousness' in our lives and community. We should seek to see his standards universally accepted, and invest our time, our energy and money in this pursuit. There are many examples of men and women who, in God's strength, have made a great impact on society because they have been passionate about God’s kingdom and God’s righteousness.

Inner beauty!!

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes. Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight.  For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands,
1 Peter 3: 3-5

There is an emphasis on inner beauty. The passages does not absolutely forbid any and all external beauty. The point is one of emphasis. What takes priority over everything? The internal attitudes of heart. Women must use the Word of God to look inside, where beauty begins. “These verses do not ban grooming or beauty aids, but they do put these adornments in proper perspective. If a woman relies only on these kinds of things to make her beautiful, she will miss the greater value of inner beauty.

The beauty of a woman is not in the outer appearance. We are forever showered with products that are supposed to make us more beautiful. Creams and lotions to either hide or eliminate wrinkles; hairstyles and dyes to color our hair to hide the 'grey'. Make up that masks our real faces, and jewellery & clothing to make us more beautiful.

They're not wrong in themselves, but our attitude behind it should not be in the need of these things to make us more attractive. If we are concerned with the way we look, and care more about grooming our outward, it may be that we are unhappy with who we really are.

God wants us to be concerned with the inside - the real us. This is where the real beauty is. Having a pretty face, a perfect figure and all the accessories that go along with it, means nothing in the light of eternity. It only reflects the culture we live in, and I think that culture needs to be challenged.

We need to get passed being overly concerned with our outward appearance, and concentrate more on what's inside. Allow the Holy Spirit to beautify the inside. For when we have God's beauty inside, it reflects on the outside - and then we won't need the creams and make-up to make ourselves beautiful. We will have the natural beauty of a Godly woman, and that beauty is eternal.

You are not forgotten!!

Napoleon's genius had been attributed to many things, but, above all, he was a superb natural leader of men. Like any wise leader he was aware that his own success would have been nothing had his men not been willing, even eager, to follow him. Obviously he could not know and personally inspire every man in his vast army, therefore he devised a simple technique for circumventing this difficulty. Before visiting a regiment he would call the colonel aside and ask for the name of a soldier who had served well in previous campaigns,
but who had not been given the credit he deserved. The colonel would indicate such a man. Napoleon would then learn everything about him, where he was born, the names of his family, his exploits in battle, etc. Later, upon passing this man while reviewing the troops, and at a signal from the colonel, Napoleon would stop, single out the man, greet him warmly, ask about his family, compliment him on his bravery and loyalty, reminisce about old campaigns, then pin a medal on the grateful soldier. The gesture worked. After the review, the other soldiers would remark, "You see, he knows us--he remembers. He knows our families. He knows we have served."

But our Lord and Savior is not like Napoleon!!  He knows us before we were formed in our mother's womb. He knows each one of us by our name. He has engraved us in His palm. He always looks out for us
no matter what!! He never sleeps nor slumbers!!

We are all soldiers in God's army and we are all well provided and looked after. He knows us and our all without anybody needing to tell him. Won't you turn to Him this day?

For the sick!!

A little girl was attending a church service with her mother when she started to complain that she was feeling unwell.

"I think I need to throw up," said the girl.

"Well, go outside," said the mother, "and use the bushes by the front door of the church."

The little girl went off but was back less than a minute later.

"That was quick," said the mother. "Did you throw up?"

"Yes, but I didn't need to go outside. I used a box near the door that says 'For the sick'."

 Praise Chorus

An old farmer went to the city one weekend and attended the big city church. He came home and his wife asked him how it was.

"Well," said the farmer, "it was good. They did something different, however. They sang praise choruses instead of hymns."

"Praise choruses?" said his wife. "What are those?"

"Oh, they're OK. They are sort of like hymns, only different," said the farmer.

"Well, what's the difference?" asked his wife.

The farmer said, "Well, it's like this - If I were to say to you: "Martha, the cows are in the corn"' - well, that would be a hymn. If on the other hand, I were to say to you:

'Martha, Martha, Martha, Oh Martha, MARTHA, MARTHA, the cows, the big cows, the brown cows, the black cows the white cows, the black and white cows, the COWS, COWS, COWS are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn, are in the corn, the CORN, CORN, CORN.'

Then, if I were to repeat the whole thing two or three times, well, that would be a praise chorus."

Silent Treatment

A husband and wife were going through a rocky phase and were giving each other the silent treatment.

One day, at the height of hostilities, he realised that he needed his wife to wake him at 5 a.m. so that he could catch an early morning business flight.

Not wanting to be the first to break the silence, he wrote on a piece of paper: "Please wake me at 5 a.m."

The next morning, he woke to discover that it was 9 a.m. and that he had missed his flight. Furious, he was about to confront his wife when he noticed a piece of paper on his pillow.

The paper read: "It is 5 a.m. Wake up."

God's Love!!

Scriptures on God's Love!!

The following are amazing verses from the bible. Just picked a few that shows the love of God.

Try to memorize these scriptures and let God's love shine through you.

John 3:16
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

1 John 4:9-12

By this the love of God was manifested in us, that God has sent His only begotten Son into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has beheld God at any time; if we love one another, God abides in us, and His love is perfected in us.

John 13:34-35
"A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. "By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

Romans 8:37-39 But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Galatians 2:20
"I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and delivered Himself up for me.

Psalm 37:28
For the LORD loves justice, And does not forsake His godly ones; They are preserved forever; But the descendants of the wicked will be cut off.

Proverbs 8:17
"I love those who love me; And those who diligently seek me will find me.

Deuteronomy 7:9
"Know therefore that the LORD your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His loving kindness to a thousandth generation with those who love Him and keep His commandments;

1 John 3:1
See how great a love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called children of God; and such we are. For this reason the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.

Amen! Hallelujah!!

God of Impossibilities!!

"1, 2, 3, 4, 5,... ",

"What are you doing my lord?" asked Sarah to Abraham who was counting something.

"I am counting the stars my dear", answered Abraham.

"Counting the stars?!!, oh my lord, is it even possible to think about counting the stars. How can you count these countless ones? Where did you get the idea of doing this?" asked Sarah looking seemingly confused.
"My dear, the Lord our God said that our descendants would be like these countless stars in the sky", said Abraham.

Sarah was all the more confused, shocked and reacted by laughing out loud. "How can you even think that this is possible with us, my lord? You are over 90. Your body is as good as dead and as for me, the way of woman has ceased, I can't and am no longer fit to bear children. Why would our Lord say so when He knows all these?", she asked.

"Sarah, He is our creator! He can create anything from nothing! Remember He changed our names from Abiram to Abraham and Sarai to Sarah? The creation started from that point in us dear. All the dead things have started to function in us and we are getting fitter day by day. The Lord told me this and now I trust in Him. Trust in Him Sarah, we will have descendants as countless as these stars", Abraham replied.

This is the possible conversation that must have happened between Abraham and Sarah. God promised the impossible (according to man) to Abraham but with God all things are possible. In our lives many things may seem impossible and dead but remember our God is a God of impossibilities. He will make all things happen, all we need to do is trust in his promises.

Trust in the Lord and don't despair, He is a friend so true to you,
No matter what your troubles are, Jesus will see you through!!

Amen! Hallelujah!!

Sermon- EVA.K.THOMAS

Rainbow!!

Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: “I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you  and with every living creature that was with you—the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you—every living creature on earth. I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be destroyed by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth.”
And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth.
Gen 9:8-13

A rainbow is an arc of light separated into bands of color (parallel stripes) that appear when the Sun's rays are refracted and reflected by drops of mist or rain. The colors of the rainbow are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. These are the full spectrum of colors that make up the sun's white light. Thus, rainbow is a multicolored arc of light in sky.

Most of us, if not all, as a child must have been excited to see a rainbow in the sky and marvel at its splendid beauty and wondered where it came from. Rainbows have always fascinated humans every since the early days and as such, have been the subject of songs, poems, stories and mythology.

It is mentioned in the Holy Bible in The book of Genesis (Gen 9: 8-17) where the rainbow is the sign of covenant between God and all life on Earth .

Lord when I look at the Rainbow you have placed in sky so
blue, it reminds me that all your promises are true
Your Rainbow reminds me that those who believe on you
are few, yet you have called us your little Ewe

Lord when I look at the Rainbow I see it's hue, it reminds
me that your love for us true

Your Rainbow in sky so blue, reminds me to keep praying
through

Lord when I look at the Rainbow it reminds me of your
promise to all of your creatures some of whom are of
different features

Your Rainbow and it's many colors reminds me that it
represents some whom are called colored

Lord when I look at your Rainbow and see how it's colors
are bright, it reminds me to do what is right

Your Rainbow I have never seen at night, this reminds me
to stay in the light

Lord when I look at your Rainbow it reminds me of your grief
because of our unbelief

Your Rainbow have no pot of gold, but your wonderful story
of love it has told

Lord when I Look at your Rainbow it reminds that you
promised to never again destroy the World with a flood

Your Rainbow to me is a sign of your love it represents
your Son's life Blood
